Cole & Son's Woods Wallpaper: Yay or Nay?

When I first discovered Cole & Son'sWoods wallpaper about 5 years ago, I fell in love. What a fabulous way to bring the outdoors in and add a graphic statement to you walls! It comes in seven color ways including a fuschia and terracotta as well as the classic black and white. I've seen it used in dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, nurseries, foyers...just about every room in the house...and in homes with varying styles: scandinavian, traditional, country, cottage chic, craftsman, modern. A versatile pattern that never goes out of style. Or does it?

This now iconic wallpaper pattern was designed in Michael Clark in 1959! That is 55 years ago! I must admit, I am completely sick of it after having only seen it for 5 years now, so I was stunned to find it's been around twice as long as I have. Maybe it's like high-waisted pants and mid-century furnishings. They're in one day, out the next, and back centuries later. Hopefully, the Woods wallpaper takes another hiatus pretty soon. I love trees, but I don't think I can stand to look at this pattern in another room. I think we designers can be a bit more creative and try something new.

What do you think? Does Cole & Son's Woods wallpaper have a few more years in the spotlight, or is it time for these trees to lay dormant?
